When I had a lot of acne I used every product at walmart and target but my skin would always get immuned to them somehow. so i finally gave into proactiv and so far my face stays clear. once in a wile a get one or two pimples but it isn't as much has it was before. for the scars i use Neutrogena Acne Mark Fading Peel. it works well for me and it doesn't burn either.What is the best treatment for acne and its scars?

Here are a few tips that I found on the net that may help.
1. Try to wear makeup that is not oily pr oil based as this can cause a bad problem with acne flare up. I may mention this more than once but remember to stop squeezing your pimples as this will cause scarring and is totally unnecessary.
2. Another really effective way to stop pimples is to place an ice pack on the infected area every twenty minutes or so and hold it down for a prolonged period of time once an hour until you see a change.
3. If you are absolutely desperate and have no other choice because nothing else is working then I suggest using a concealor as this will provide a temporary fix to the problem area.
4. An old fashioned method of stopping pimples is to simply place a little tooth paste on the area and watch it dry right up. This will also help you at night so as to place a dab of your favorite tooth paste on the infected area and in the morning it should be greatly reduced if not gone all together.
5. Do not squeeze or pick at a pimple, as this will only cause it to get worse. Try good old fashioned, natural soap on a regular basis in addition to the things that have already been mentioned.
The following suggestion on how to stop squeezing your pimples and treat your acne infected area are a start in good overall facial hygiene and care.

I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.
I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

i used to have a huge acne problem when i was in college. it got really bad during times of stress, like around exam times. i found that the major reason for my breakouts was stress and poor nutrition.
the best thing you can do to prevent acne, is to drink lots and lots of water. tap water is the best. it detoxifies your system. fruits also help a lot; especially citrus fruits.
don't go for soaps or cleansing agents that claim to get rid of your acne. they just dry up your skin. excess oils may cause acne but your skin still needs the oils. don't over wash either for the same reason.

Go to your doctor, they can prescribe something, at least mine could. It has been about two weeks and my acne is almost clear. If you have insurance it's probably not gonna cost you anything. And for scars I would try mederma.

I have dark skin and acne scarring, but not alot, but its still visible. I am aware that because of this, I cannot use all acne scar treatments, as it will affect my pigmentation. So I would like to know which is the best, that people would recommend.

Don't worry too much about the scarring or else your worries will just add stress and create more. If anything, just wash your face with soap everyday and go on about life as usual.
If you plan on finding treatment, you could try acutane, but just a warning: it's a really strong depressant.
If you still want to find a treatment for it, don't forget to try following this too. A body and mind that's happy shows it through the body's physical appearance.
Maybe Mederma. It is what I use for scars and it works better than anything else I have tried. A tube of it is a bit expensive, but you use very little at a time. I have a tube that's two years old and I'm very active. Using a microderm abrasion treatment and any cream with vitamin E in it is also a great idea.

Use Mederma. I use to have REALLY bad acne scars for years, but now they're almost completely gone. It smoothed out the scar tissue and got rid of most of the purple pigment I had. I've been using it for about a month and a half and started seeing results in about two weeks.
To use it, you apply it over the scars 2-4 times a day. According to the company, you should see results as little as a couple weeks to few months depending on how old the scar is. For a large tube of Mederma, it's about $30, for a small one, it's about $15. You can find them at Long's, Target, Walmart, CVS Pharmacy, and other pharmacy stores. But keep in mind, you have to keep up with it and you need to take care of your skin too or you'll just develop more scars (Mederma eliminates scars that already exist, it doesn't prevent them). So make sure you wash your face, moisturize it, change your pillowcases, use an ear-piece when you talk on the phone, (basically make less contact with anything and your face)...But yeah, you get the point. Just take care of your skin to prevent the scars and use Mederma to get rid of the current ones. ;)

vitamin c is supposed to help with that a bit, if it's recent scarring it should reduce quite a bit but i'm afraid that scars will take time to heal up properly and that sometimes they don't heal, but there will be some good treatments, if you go to your local gp or chemist i'm sure they can help you easily, good luck!

Have any of you ever had laser treatment for acne scars or do you know anything about it???
I'm 23 and I've had body acne on my back since I hit puberty. It's pretty bad and I absolutly hate it!!! I can't wear shirts with open back, unless I cover it with make-up and keep my hair down. Most of the scars are on my lower back. Recently, I've been using Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub and it helps a bit, but it won't take away the scars. I also use cocoa butter sometimes on my back, but I know that it won't solve the major scars.

Are there any procedures that can be done for my acne scarred skin. Most of my scars are on my cheeks and it is just really horrible looking. I am so young, I'm only 18 and my skin is ruined with these marks. Can anyone tell me of some treatments that can be done for my skin and how much it will cost and where to get it done. Fraxel Laser Treatment for acne scars?
my dermatologist told me that my best option for minimizing the appearance of my acne scars is to have fraxel laser surgery. For 4 treatments, its going to cost me $3,600.
My derm is reputable (I see tv commercial about her clinics) and I've been seeing her for the past 3 years.

I have cystic acne and well, the scars are EVIL. Mederma makes them turn skin color, so I imagine if it's just regular acne then yes. Cystic acne scars turn purple and some have what looks like holes in them just to give you a little reason why I say there's a difference.
